 History in the making!
Two generations ago, long before Jake’s Smokehouse Style Bar-B-Que Sauces ever got started was great grandfather Jake back in the hills of Arkansas turning out just about the best barbecue sauce that ever existed. He prided himself on quality, taste, and a full, robust flavor that enhanced whatever it was added to. But in those days pork, chicken and beef were the mainstays and Jake created his sauces just for family gatherings.
Many years later, long after Jake passed on Cleo Calloway Jr. began his pursuit of developing the best barbecue sauce in the land. Cleo never knew just how much influence his great grandfather passed along until one fateful day. He’d just finished sharing with his mother his enthusiasm at the development of his key ingredients when his mother told him a story about how his great grandfather would toil for hours mixing and remixing ingredients until he felt his sauce could not be matched. Cleo’s mom told him just how much he reminded her of grandfather Jake and so when it came time to name our product Jake’s was a natural fit. And thus Jake’s Smokehouse Style Bar-B-Que Sauces and Seasonings Company was born in San Luis Obispo, California.

Our products have traveled a long way to get here but are right on time in flavor, style and quality.
Jake’s Smokehouse Style Bar-B-Que Sauces is produced in three excellent flavors, Original (Mild), Medium-Hot, (Lightly spicy), and Inferno! (Very Spicy/Hot!), our basic style is Smokehouse. Our Smokehouse utilizes wonderful blends of golden brown sugar, molasses, honey, garlic and a host of other evenly blended ingredients and spices. Our Medium Hot and Inferno! Style sauces are blended with choice, unique selections of ginger, habanera, and jalapeno.
Our products are co-packed in Southern California and presented with an eye-catching label in 16 Fl. Oz. glass containers, 1-gallon party sizes and 5-Gallon Commercial Sizes each fully displaying the same home-style look and feel.
Our many, many customers tell us that our products are used on meat, fish, chicken, game, as dips, spreads and tapenades. Jake’s is versatile and complete right out of the jar. In addition to our wonderful product line we were recently granted U.S. Patent and Trademark Registration Number 2791203.
